A new DreamPi update is now available! This update adds support for Sega Rally 2 and some other yet-to-be-announced games. Big thanks to Shuouma and SEGA RPG FAN for their work on this! Thank you for packaging up and releasing a ready made DreamPi image. However, I’ve noticed that it continues to use an old Raspbian image based on Debian 10 “Buster”. Is there a reason why it is using such an old distribution release?
Regardless, are there instructions on how to download the source code from https://github.com/Kazade/dreampi and deploy it into a current Raspberry Pi OS image based on Debian 13 “Trixie”?
I intend to attempt it without any instructions, but figured I would ask first.
Using a newer version would break compatibility with older Pi’s and there’s no reason to use a newer one unless you need it to work on a Pi 5 for some reason.
There is a reason: security updates. However, I do acknowledge this will not matter for most people.
With that said, I would still like to deploy it myself. Are there general instructions available anywhere that you can share?
Can’t help you there. Never tried it. But keep in mind that there’s a very high chance that something will break if you try using a newer Raspbian version. Even upgrading to Buster caused problems initially.
