You have to really admire Shuouma’s dedication to not only bringing us new games to play online, but also to making sure every server is rock-solid, and in the case of today’s news, taking an already existing server and making his own version that’s even better! Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon was brought back online over six years ago now by Inada-S, and while his server worked great, it wasn’t without its faults. The game is very susceptible to lag, especially with matches involving more than two players that are geographically far from each other. Shuouma recently decided to take it upon himself to re-build the server from scratch, doing everything possible on the server-side to minimize lag. The result is an overall smoother experience that will surely be a treat for Gundam fans.
Here’s a list of improvements the new server brings:
- Matches stay smooth — no more getting worse the longer the server’s been up
- One person’s bad connection doesn’t lag everyone else
- The server doesn’t fall over from a single bad packet
- No dropped input at the start of a battle
- A welcome message on login
- The map shows only lobbies you can actually enter
