Do people give presents for New Year’s? I’m not sure but who cares because you’re getting one anyway! Hundred Swords is now back online thanks to Shuouma! I think a good chunk of you have probably never heard of this game and that’s because it was exclusive to Japan. It’s a first-party real-time strategy game developed by none other than Smilebit (the same studio behind Jet Set/Grind Radio). Don’t ask me too much more about it though as it’s a bit of a hard one to figure out if you don’t understand Japanese. Luckily the basic gameplay is easy enough to follow if you’ve ever played an RTS before, just click a unit and click something else to make them attack or interact with things. I’m hoping this one will get a translation in the future to make it more accessible to western audiences. I attempted a translation of the online menus as I’ve done with some of the previous Japanese games that have been brought back, but unfortunately it’s a bit beyond my skill level (in addition to me not having a lot of spare time these days). Let’s hope someone else will take on the project at some point though. In the meantime, up to 4 non-Japanese-speaking players can now fumble around with this game online! Get excited!
Getting online with Hundred Swords is the same as all the previously revived IWANGO games (Sega Tetris, Golf Shiyouyo 2, Aero Dancing, etc…). You’ll need the patched version of the game to play online (available from the Downloads page) and you’ll also need to update your Pi to DreamPi 2.0 if you haven’t done so already. You’ll also want to change your “Login ID” in your web browser settings to something unique as this will be used as your account name when playing online. If you still have your ID set to “dream”, you won’t be able to connect to the server.
As always, be sure to check the Connection Guide for all the info you need on how to connect.
If you have any issues with the server, feel free to report them in the comments below. Thanks as always to Shuouma for all his hard work! See you all online soon!

I tried to start the game on a PAL Dreamcast with a GDEMU 5.20.5 and Boot 101D, but it freezes on the license screen. I also tried running the game on an emulator to check whether the files were corrupted, but I didn’t encounter any issues. Do you know what might be causing this?
Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with GDEMU but maybe someone else can help.
try the gdi from this site and see if it works. it won’t allow you to get online due to it not being patched, but could be a cleaner rip.

The GDI works without the patch. So I guess it’s not a GDEMU issue, but rather a problem with the patch
It could be that your GDEMU has a problem with the shrunk GDI. Try this:

The CDI version doesn’t seem to be working for me. The Dreamcast is treating it like a music CD. Is anyone else having this issue?
I had a feeling it might not work. I tested it myself and it just sent me back to the menu. I wasn’t sure if it was just my Dreamcast though. I guess someone else will have to make a CDI because I’m not sure how to do it myself.
Bummer! Well…I appreciate you confirming that it isn’t working. Here’s hoping that someone else will be able do make a CDI version soon.
fantastic news!! can’t wait to play this one online!
That’s awesome! I won this game from one of your giveaways!
