It’s been quite the crazy year, folks! Within only a few months time, we’ve gotten both Speed Devils Online and all three Aero Dancing Games revived thanks to the efforts of Shuouma and flyinghead. And it’s not over by a long shot! Ladies and gentlemen, Quake III Aren’s reign as the only (official) online FPS for Dreamcast is now over because Outtrigger is back online! Very much like Speed Devils, this was another game in Shuouma’s archive that he got almost there but stalled. Shu decided to share his code with flyinghead recently which resulted in the rest being completed. The hard work from both parties on this is highly appreciated! It’s awesome to see this collaboration resulting in great things for the community. It’s looking more and more likely that one day every online game in the Dreamcast library will be up and running again. Or maybe we just have too many games already and we should just stop here. What do you think? 😉
Outtrigger is a super fun game even when played offline and brings that classic Sega charm to the first-person shooter genre. It’s extremely fast paced and frantic with a very arcade-like feel. Taking the action online, the game supports up to 6 players which is a nice compromise between Quake III Arena’s 4 and Unreal Tournament’s 8. Though considering how small most of game’s arenas are, it should keep you on your toes no matter the number of players. Oh and broadband adapter owners rejoice as Outtrigger supports your aft-underutilised peripheral for that little edge when playing online, possibly to the chagrin of the modem-only crowd.
As always, be sure to check the Connection Guide for all the info you need on how to connect. As with any new server, there may be bugs. If you experience any issues, you can report them in the Dreamcast-Talk thread here. Huge shout-out to both Shuouma and flyinghead for their excellent collab on this game! Keep online Dreamcasting everyone!
Hello follows over a year this website.im so Happy that this Game is Back online bba .
Oh wow, this is fantastic! I bought my dreamcast in 2004 and this was one of the first games that I got for it on the recommendation of the store manager. It is one of my favorites and was always wishing I discovered it a few years earlier to experience the online portion. I am so excited to try this. Amazing work.
This is great! Another BBA game to play and a very fun game to play. I played some matches yesterday and all played on a BBA: One 3 player match, Two 5 player matches, and Two 6 player matches. They all ran good with no problems. Maybe it’s time to make a new top 5 online dreamcast games😁 Thank you flyinghead for getting this game revive
Such a huge release for the online Dreamcast scene. Thanks so much to Shu and Flyinghead! The future is so bright with this partnership <3
The work of Shuouma never ceases to impress me. Collaboration with Flyinghead is also solid, glad to see this progress is going strong.
