July ’25 Giveaway: Carbon Fiber VMU!

Do you have precious Phantasy Star Online saves that you want to protect from the harsh and brutal world? Well then this month’s giveaway is for you! This month I’m giving away an official Carbon Fiber VMU! Guaranteed to protect your fragile save files from any number of violent attacks such as bullets, explosions, shivs, or even being run over by any 18-wheeler (I’m looking at you Lizard Tail!). Ok, so maybe it’s not real carbon fiber but it’s still a pretty snazzy looking visual memory unit, is it not? I’m sure any true Dreamcast fan would welcome this wonderful addition to their collection. And you are a real Dreamcast fan, aren’t you? AREN’T YOU?! …. ahem…. Sorry.

  2. I’d love to one day own Sonic Adventure 2 and Crazy Taxi 2 as well as the red, green, and smoke VMUs (those are the most affordable VMUs in my region that I don’t have, but I wouldn’t mind having any of the other cool variants though, haha).

    I recently bought the Shenmue themed Hazuki Jacket from Insert Coin whilst it was on sale… I love it, so i’ll be keeping an eye out of more Dreamcast related clothing i think!

    • Just got my first Dreamcast not too long ago! Hoping to get an original Dreamcast fightstick to use for the great catalog of fighting games this system has!!!

    • I would Dream to have a Ecco the dolphin VMU (I know there’s no official one, but there’s one with dolphins!) one can only Dreamcast. Un saludo y sigan proyectando sus sueños.

    Another VMU is definitely on my list of stuff I’d love to get next along with a jump pack, the fishing rod, and the Samba de Amigo maracas.

  22. That looks like a brilliantly designed VMU. Through, for years still I never ever had used one, always wanted too but never did. that looks just 🤩. I would really also love to own a mini monitor that allows it to be played all over, but if maybe for fun the karaoke attachment

  30. Would like to eventually own one of every VMU color. also really need to get the fishing controller.

    • That VMU looks cool as hell. I bet the carbon fibre lowers the weight so it accelerates faster too.

      The next Dreamcast item I’d love to own is one of those ergonomic 3rd party controllers. I’m also tempted to grab a new shell in translucent black to replace my yellowed one.

  34. Thanks for another awesome giveaway! The biggest Dreamcast goodie that I have always wanted but dont have is a Maraca set! Samba de Amigo plays just fine with the controller (which has always helped me rationalize skipping a Maracas purchase), but deep down, those plastic shakers call!

  37. Sweet looking Checkerboard-scheme! It’s not quite the Black Grid of the Genesis Cartridges, but I like to think it’s a vague homage if you squint a bit.

    It’s a shame the games themselves don’t allow you to use the Official Light Gun. Would’ve wanted to get one someday since my CRT’s still alive and kicking.

    If I had to pick one thing from my list, I think I would pick the House of the Dead 2 Light Gun pack from Japan. I want that Official Dreamcast light gun while having the correct version of the game.

  39. I am only starting to build up my collection, but I am searching for a good deal on R7 Dreamcast or Sakura Wars one, since they look so cool. Or any peripherals like fighting sticks or different VMUs.
    I already own a Pink Hello Kitty Dreamcast, one white boxed and another one that I use to play games on.

  40. I would like to have a another vmu LOL. when I got one it came with a phantasy star online save from around 2003, saddly i had to delete it because it almost full. Would like have kept that save around and see what the previous owner had played.
